It doesn't absolutely ruin the VN but I can't read it with these distracting out of place letters and symbols.There are many torrent trackers on the Internet where you can download repacks from R.G Mechanics, but most sites are not very user-friendly, there are a lot of intrusive and aggressive ads that distract from the content itself, they have complicated navigation, an inconvenient interface, and you still need to register on the site. After inquiring they just said "we'll get back to you." Please let me know if anyone has a fix for this problem. I emailed denpasoft and they linked me the kickstarter page showing there are currently working on bugfixes ( ) - I let it go for a bit until I got informed that a sequel was released (A Clockwork Ley-Line: Daybreak of remnants shadow) - so I figured "oh maybe the issue is resolved now" seeing how it's been around 6 months later. Back in January I purchased this VN from Denpasofts website - however I received this text bug whenever a name is mentioned in the text (picture below). Wanted to vent my frustration and see if anyone had a fix I was unable to locate. I'll wait a few more months to determine whether it will end up as my #1, but at the very least it's top 5 all time favorite pieces of fiction for sure.
I honestly feel it's as close to a perfect VN as you can get, which explains why the Author never bothered writing anything afterwards. Overall, I think the reception this game gets is very well deserved. On one hand, I do enjoy throwing some challenge at the player, on the other hand I suck ass at them and since I didn't use a walkthrough, some of them took me around an hour to solve. My only gripes were with the difficulty of some of the puzzles that caused a break in the flow of the story. Fallen Leaves and The Call have already made their way to my playlist. Both are amazing and add so much to the enjoyment of the playthrough. I can't speak for the accuracy, but the translation itself I found very easy to read while still flowing beautifully. Shoutout to the translators for their work. It is so well lovingly crafted and prepared that the payoff put tears in my eyes. The ending scene where Fallen Leaves begins to play is one my favorite scenes in any piece of fiction ever. The final route specifically was absolutely phenominal. They all tackle their own specific themes, as well as give you sneak peaks of hidden key details important to the overarching story.
As the reader, I tended to struggle to realize the correct path just as much as the characters themselves.Īll of the routes were great and different enough to provide the variety I needed to keep me hooked. The Author never really explictly pushes you towards a certain idea, leaving you to think for yourself on what might be the correct path. What is the right answer? What is the right choice? I often found myself unsure of what path the characters should take.
There were many many times where the author made me question my perspective on scenarios. The themes tackled are fairly complex, difficult, and heavy. All the other characters are also amazingly well crafted. He is also hilarious, truly a man of many talents. I think the way his development is handled throughout the story is masterful. The protag is such a great character, I had a wonderful time following his journey and watching his struggles. I went in with fairly high expectations and all of them were met in spectacular fashion. I always figured I'd never get the chance unless I learned Japanese considering how most people doubted it would ever receive a proper translation. I've actually been anticipating playing it since around 10 years ago when I first checked it out on VNDB.
